HARFIELD MAKE A DIFFERENCE

At the end of 2022, LACA held the Annual School Lunch event at the House of Commons. They were showcasing ‘all that is great about school food’. Over 20 MPs attended the LACA event to talk with caterers about the importance and challenges of providing school meals. Harfield were delighted to support LACA by providing tableware for use at the event. This included plates, bowls, cutlery, tumblers and jugs.

After the lunch, we donated the tableware to Chester Aid for the Homeless (CATH). Robert Whittall, chief executive from CATH said: “Thank you on behalf of Chester Aid to the Homeless for your useful donation of kitchenware for the homeless of Chester. The donated items from LACA will help us replenish the items at the houses that we manage where we support up to 36 individuals. Also, the remainder will be utilised at The Harold Tomlins Centre where we run a range of support sessions.”

Kate Hindley, our Sales Director said: “Harfield were honoured to support the Annual School Lunch event. We’re delighted that our tableware has gone to such an amazing charity. Thank you to everyone involved for making it happen.”

WHAT’S FOR DESSERT?

Harfield’s Dessert Pots have proved a hit at one of the UK’s leading independent schools for boys and girls aged 13 to 18. The school believes it is ‘extremely important to provide a healthy and balanced range of food that is both nutritious and enjoyable for pupils’. 90% of the school dishes are made using fresh ingredients so these pots are perfect to help the school tick that box.

The ‘potted desserts’ looked amazing. The pupils had a choice between vegetarian orange jelly, blueberry chai seed yoghurt, vegan lemon cheesecake, fruit pots and apple crumble. Lisa Whiteman, the head pastry chef said that the school goes through 500 of our reusable Dessert Pots a day. Our pots are virtually unbreakable, so safe to use by children of all ages.
